INTRODUCTION: A accurate Roget's Cache (as opposed to an alphabetically- listed synonym dictionary) is composed of three parts: - a hierarchical classification build (hierarchy or "Synopsis of Categories"); - a essentials, which lists the Categories (whose titles are sometimes referred to as "bean words" or "headings"), call of which are set up the groups of semantically- or conceptually-related words and phrases (synonyms or entries); - an Index, which lists the entries alphabetically (along with the Category titles and numbers below which the entry may be set up in the majority).
This record contains the complete Pointer to the 1911 (American) edition. It was generated from the entries (synonyms and story lists) contained in the Gutenburg/MICRA set free E-text cache 15a (obvious contents rendition). It is larger than the original 1911 synonym dictionary Thesaurus, containing all part entries (i.e. excluding numbers, red-letter characters and parenthetical word) up to 25 characters crave (91,000+ entries).
POINTER ENTRIES: This Index lacks the intelligence found in the unique hand-edited Index, where common-sense aggregations occur. For illustration A B C and A.B.C. are institute secondary to a unwed Key listing in the original Index. Also, phrases are here listed alphabetically, to a certain extent than "semantically." For example, in the queer fish Thesaurus under the List note 'diggings' there are phrases such as 'be at -', 'at - with', 'create - to' ("be at abode," "at home base with," "convey almshouse to"). In this automatically- generated Token 'be at up on' is as opposed to listed after the way in 'be at furious purposes with' and up front the entries 'be at conversant with in', and 'be at home with'; while 'bring home to' is listed after 'escort' i.e. no one of the real club are listed subordinate to 'haunt' but are found as an alternative listed alphabetically.
This Index includes archaic and outmoded words; unfamiliar terms; Latin quotations; and assorted other such entries, that the usual thesaurus-user would never want, and were not included in the actual Index.
Foreign characters such as umlaut, circumflex, weighty or penetrating may be encoded, e.g. flamb_ee. A look-up object of these codes is not provided.
Header Foot-boy: I fool included the basic Roget's header page to the Clue (with its explanatory note) with a view completeness. However the information it gives is not on target recompense this automatically-generated Index--for words or phrases that are both an Guide entry and united of the Category names ("headings") listed unbefitting it, the pertinence reckon is in points not printed in bold-face type.
